It's time I start keeping better track of my projects again.
Babies were born a while ago, so now seems like the right time. =D

Baby Blanket Gift
Here's a baby blanket that I gave to a friend in...April. Yep, I'm slow.
It's worked from corner to corner (the last one that I did was an EPIC fail--this pattern worked much better!).
It was done holding two strands together. The green-ish/turquoise color is a solid strand of Red Heart and a strand of Bernat Baby with a silver strand running through it and a slight curl to the yarn. The white stripes were solid white Red Heart and a slightly flecked I Love This Yarn sport weight white.

Christmas Gift Hats
Like many others, I had a huge running list of projects to complete for Christmas gifts this year. It was so much fun crossing each completed item off the list.
There was only one (rather intense and tedious) project that had to be put off to wait for gifting it another time so that everything else could be accomplished. A story for another post.
My dear sister-in-law encourages my love of crafting.*
She often sends me adorable patterns or items she'd love to someday make for her kids. However, with 3 little ones, she doesn't have an abundance of free time. So sometimes I just steal her ideas and make them for her instead. It all works out, and she's never (yet!) been upset at me for it. And I can't pass up snagging someone else's creativity since I've always been the first to admit that I can't come up with anything new on my own.
Since they've moved to a colder area than where they were, bundling the kids up is a priority. Having fun doing it makes it even better; therefore, fun hats were a must for this year.
Even though two of them leave a little room to grow, they look pretty pleased with how they turned out!
The two boys have earflaps to keep their ears toasty, and sweet niece has braids to hopefully shut out a little wind (though it's already looking a little snug! =( Bummer!)
Each hat became its own creation with many on-the-fly modifications, so I have no pattern suggestions for you. I hope they enjoy them!
*...side note: do you have that person(s) in your life that really spurs you on in your creativity and crafts? We all know those that don't particularly love or appreciate our handmade gifts, and that's ok. But often, there is someone that truly understands and appreciates the time, effort, and quality/craftsmanship that you pour into projects. Well, I have a couple of those dear people in my life, and my sister-in-law is one of them.

Remaining Chemo Hats
This first hat has a beautiful butterfly/bow look on the front. Pattern found here.
Two coordinating hats with a removable flower that matches either one. Patterns here and here.
This hat ended up being a little too tight around the brim, so I frogged it and made two new ones in its place. Hopefully I took pictures... ;-)
This is a SUPER soft yarn with very light pastel flecks in it. Pattern found here.
Ugh...this hat. I absolutely love this yarn. I've used it for other projects, and it's wonderful! So imagine my disappointment when pattern after pattern just wouldn't work! I eventually created something mostly based off of this pattern.
These hats were intended to be versatile for use with or without flower embellishments as well as allowing a variety of choices each day. It's gotten warm enough now that these are mostly useless for the time being, but that's OK! Hopefully as she continues to heal, these will just end up in the winter clothing bin!

More Chemo Hats
Well, her hair is officially coming out. We just took a batch of 10 hats to her, so she's excited about having a bunch of choices for each outfit each day!
Flapper Hat in pink with a gray trim and bow
This one is a little hard to see when it's not on a model, but the little brim makes it super cute. The ridges give it a little added fun.
Pattern was found here.
A simple granny-style pattern hat which ended up being a mash-up of various patterns I had.
I wasn't sure if she'd end up liking the patterns with a lot of open holes once her hair was gone, but I also knew that sometimes she'd probably want a lighter more airy hat once it gets hot out. This flower is not sewn on so she can put it on other hats or use the hat without the accessory.
And a fuzzy, fleecy pink hat. This was a crazy creation in my brain using a lot of V-stitches because I wasn't quite sure how much yarn I had. I was pretty happy with how it turned out, though! It's a little more of a snug style, so if her head/skin becomes sensitive and tender, it may not be a favorite, but for now, that hasn't become an issue for her. Due to the V-stitch, it is also another holey pattern, but the fluffy bulky yarn makes it less obvious.
And the last for today is a fun springy flowery hat. Finally got the camera and computer to play nice, and this one's color is still a little hard to see (or my screen just isn't clear enough). Anyway, it's a soft canary yellow and lavender. It's a bit more roomy, again to allow for potential sensitive skin issues.

Chemo Hats
A friend of ours (5 years old) was just diagnosed with a serious cancer, so I've been making a bunch of chemo hats for her. Hopefully they'll keep her little head warm in this very cool spring, and keep the sun off her tender skin once summer hits.
After making the first two, her big sister confiscated the other one (it was 'her' color, and little sister was more than happy to share! ;-) ), so technically, this is the first of her hats.
(Still camera and photo issues so color isn't very true...)
This was made with Lion Brand Homestyle Yarn in Ambrosia (nice and soft for a sensitive head), with a purple flower embellishment.
I have a huge variety of patterns and soft yarns, so I'll be posting several as I go (5 more are already waiting photography!).

Quick Queenly Crown
Here's my quick project for today. Hopefully another will be completed shortly.
This was a special order for a special delivery baby, and it was made based off of this pattern.

Quick Project
Well, there have been many projects flying off my hooks since I last posted. It will take me a while to catch up! Recently, we had a nephew and a niece born into our family. Yay!!! Great excuse for baby projects galore! There have been Christmas gifts, doilies, my 2013 scarf, and special orders mixed in.
Here's a quick taste (and a bad photo) in the meantime. Hubby asked for this hat this afternoon, so naturally, I obliged.
50 points if you get the significance!

Baby Hat
Some friends of ours just had a baby girl. How about a little purple hat for that precious tiny head?
I used this pattern as a guideline for the hat and my own made up pattern for the rosette. The hat was done with a lavender and a shiny white yarn held together, and the rosette was done with a dark purple with silver strand running through.
Hopefully I'll get to see her wearing it before she grows out of it!

Special Order Headbands
A couple months ago, Kitty Cats and Airplanes did a 'Headband Week' for links of headband projects. I linked a few of mine, and Amie featured them at the end of the week! She really liked them and had wanted to get some the previous winter, but she never did. So I offered to make one for her.
Once Amie decided on colors, I found just the right yarn in my stash, whipped something together, and packaged them up for her.
...then I realized I forgot to take any pictures.
Thankfully Amie looks super cute in these headbands and took some great pictures! So here's a glimpse, photos courtesy of Amie at Kitty Cats and Airplanes. Take a look at her post to see some other great items she's received recently!
--Gray yarn with yellow cabbage rose.
--Slightly sparkly silver/gray yarn, white and yellow flowers, and a touch of bling.
Even though I have some headbands for sale in a local boutique, I think I'll be putting some more for sale in our ArtFire Shop again soon. If anyone wants to order specific colors for Christmas gifts, feel free to make a special request!

Yarn, Yarn, Yarn...
It's everywhere!
Join me as we take a short walk through a few rooms in my house to see a sampling of yarn in various states of project completion.
There's a bag ready to go out the door with small portable projects.
Here's a stack of finished potholders, washcloths, and a Pirate Hat all piled on a basket full of afghans.
A bucket full of yarn is at my feet when I sit at the couch and crochet.
There are even some yarn items in the toybox!
It's in the closet.
It's tied to the doorknob for some crazy game that little boys are known to invent and that the rest of us will never understand.
It's on school projects.
Ah, this one, I love. "Mama, can I play with this ball of yarn?" No sooner do I give permission than I find it tied to this old table, and a large cardboard tube is being "zoomed" across the rooms down this yarn. I didn't have the heart to take it off, so for my own silly giggles, I left it there during Easter dinner while 10 people sat around a table in the same room with this random yarn-tied-table. Am I the only one that finds an odd joy in that? I (occasionally) try to be dignified, but when there's a 5-year-old in the house, it's going to show! By the way, no one asked about it. Do you think it's because of the 5-year-old or because they're afraid I'm just such a horrible hostess that I didn't even notice it there?
Huh. This is an interesting project hanging on the back of a door. Maybe I'll have to tell you about it sometime.
There's yarn in my kitchen drawers. (Oh gross, apparently that one needs to be washed!)
And this is a fairly small representation from the room that holds most of my craft supplies. This was just what was readily accessible.

Isn't yarn amazing? So many colors, textures, material content, thickness...what's not to love?

Life-long Love and Lighthouse
That's a lot of "L" today.
I love my family!
And we were at the Lighthouse when this picture was taken.
(This still counts for a crafting blog since that's the beret I made for myself and the hat I made for hubby, right? And I do love to crochet...) ;-)

Features
There were so many options for the letter F: Favorite projects, Family, Fails, or even Food. But somehow features seemed like the best option for variety's sake.
My first time being featured was by Sarah at The Pumpkin Patch. She loved my tip for keeping your razors sharp. It's still one of my favorite tips. If you weren't following me back then (uh...who am I kidding, there was barely ANYone back then!), go check it out.
Next, Nicolette at Momnivore's Dilemma featured my sister's Christmas gift necklace.
My tiny Christmas Wreath was posted on All Free Christmas Crafts.
Then I had a very exciting streak of projects that were featured.
Featured by Krafty Kat, House of Hepworths, and Little Eme.
This week, I was featured at the fun Yarn It All Linky Party hosted by Kimberly from bugaboo, mini, mr & me and Mandy from Mandipidy.

Kimberly was a fan of my Pirate Hat (above), and Mandy loved my frog puppet washcloth.
Much more fun to look at Features than Fails, right?
Oh, and tomorrow is G... Hmmm...what could I think of with G? =D

Pirate Hat Feature
Should I be developing a complex that people like me best when my face is completely covered? =D
That's fine by me, because it sure is fun to make something that people like!
(Also, I still have tinges of green and yellow that I'd love to keep covered, but I just can't pull it off to wear this hat during everyday life.)
All this is to say that my pirate hat was featured at Little Eme.
Check out her wonderful blog!

Another feature!
Wow! I feel like I'm just barely starting to get caught up on everything again, and I was featured at House of Hepworths! Check out Allison's blog--she has amazing home renovation projects going on and great ideas galore!
I've gotten such fun comments on my Pirate Hat, and it was just a fun attempt at silliness.
Thanks, everyone!

Celebrate Friday!
Thank you all for the well-wishes on my recovery! Y'all are the sweetest.
Things were not looking good yesterday, and apparently it was not clotting in a normal fashion. The doctor's office was closed yesterday, but I was able to get in right away this morning. He was able to take care of all of it, and it appears that no damage was done. Pain is minimal, and things are looking up!
In other good news, I've now found another practical use for this project:
This will work perfectly to cover up that gorgeous blue chin I'm sportin'!
I'm hoping to catch up on all your blogs today!

My pirate hat
I made this hat a while ago, and I'm just getting around to posting it.
This is part of my Pirate Night costume:
Just call me Scurvy Dog!
I was told that no one could decipher my facial expressions, so I wanted to tell you that I was smiling really big here, but I don't think you'd believe me. ;-)

Recent Crochet Projects
I was finishing up testing another pattern for SmoothFox when my hubby's cousin asked about something like a neckwarmer. I had Marie Anne's neckwarmer pattern open on a tab for several days wanting to find some time to try it, so I told Hannah I'd make one for her.
Merry Christmas Eve, Hannah!
The headbands I most recently finished were also for Hannah...I think she likes the neckwarmer more. ;-) ...or maybe it's just that warm southern blood that keeps it around her neck all day every day!
Great Pop LOVED the hat (though by the picture, you'd think otherwise!)
Where's that big grin you always have? Oh well. It sounds like he might wear it occasionally (if Great Grandma will let him), so maybe I'll have another chance at a smiling shot.
This necklace and bracelet set
...was a big crowd hit, but apparently we were having to pass the camera back and forth too much, so we didn't get an opening-the-gift picture. Maybe we'll have to save it for another shot of her modeling it.
Well, I've just been searching way too long for a long lost picture, and it's time to get moving. More pictures and stories for another time. We've been away from home all this past week, so it hasn't left much time for sleeping, let alone blogging. =( But there's still LOTS to show you, so I'll keep checking in with little snippets along the way.
Hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas!
