ABC Afghan

Apparently, I never posted this project. It's been a long time. Years.

Batch of Baby Hats

I've been on a baby-hat-making-frenzy. Here's the first batch.

It sure is helping to clear out random skeins of yarn!

Remaining Chemo Hats

I've been away from the computer a lot lately, so I've missed posting the rest of my hats and lots of other summer projects!

This first hat has a beautiful butterfly/bow look on the front. Pattern found here.

Two coordinating hats with a removable flower that matches either one. Patterns here and here.

This hat ended up being a little too tight around the brim, so I frogged it and made two new ones in its place. Hopefully I took pictures... ;-)

This is a SUPER soft yarn with very light pastel flecks in it. Pattern found here.

Ugh...this hat. I absolutely love this yarn. I've used it for other projects, and it's wonderful! So imagine my disappointment when pattern after pattern just wouldn't work! I eventually created something mostly based off of this pattern.

These hats were intended to be versatile for use with or without flower embellishments as well as allowing a variety of choices each day. It's gotten warm enough now that these are mostly useless for the time being, but that's OK! Hopefully as she continues to heal, these will just end up in the winter clothing bin!

More Chemo Hats

Well, her hair is officially coming out. We just took a batch of 10 hats to her, so she's excited about having a bunch of choices for each outfit each day!

Flapper Hat in pink with a gray trim and bow
This one is a little hard to see when it's not on a model, but the little brim makes it super cute. The ridges give it a little added fun.
Pattern was found here.

A simple granny-style pattern hat which ended up being a mash-up of various patterns I had.
I wasn't sure if she'd end up liking the patterns with a lot of open holes once her hair was gone, but I also knew that sometimes she'd probably want a lighter more airy hat once it gets hot out. This flower is not sewn on so she can put it on other hats or use the hat without the accessory.

And a fuzzy, fleecy pink hat. This was a crazy creation in my brain using a lot of V-stitches because I wasn't quite sure how much yarn I had. I was pretty happy with how it turned out, though! It's a little more of a snug style, so if her head/skin becomes sensitive and tender, it may not be a favorite, but for now, that hasn't become an issue for her. Due to the V-stitch, it is also another holey pattern, but the fluffy bulky yarn makes it less obvious.

And the last for today is a fun springy flowery hat. Finally got the camera and computer to play nice, and this one's color is still a little hard to see (or my screen just isn't clear enough). Anyway, it's a soft canary yellow and lavender. It's a bit more roomy, again to allow for potential sensitive skin issues.
This pattern was found here.

Chemo Hats

A friend of ours (5 years old) was just diagnosed with a serious cancer, so I've been making a bunch of chemo hats for her. Hopefully they'll keep her little head warm in this very cool spring, and keep the sun off her tender skin once summer hits.

After making the first two, her big sister confiscated the other one (it was 'her' color, and little sister was more than happy to share! ;-) ), so technically, this is the first of her hats.

(Still camera and photo issues so color isn't very true...)

This was made with Lion Brand Homestyle Yarn in Ambrosia (nice and soft for a sensitive head), with a purple flower embellishment.

I have a huge variety of patterns and soft yarns, so I'll be posting several as I go (5 more are already waiting photography!).

Baby Cocoon

This is the other part of the crown gift.

Somehow, the pictures wouldn't capture the correct color AND the fuzzy texture, so you can use your imagination to combine the two. =)
The pattern came from this book.

Quick Queenly Crown

Here's my quick project for today. Hopefully another will be completed shortly.

This was a special order for a special delivery baby, and it was made based off of this pattern.

Baby Hat

Some friends of ours just had a baby girl. How about a little purple hat for that precious tiny head?
I used this pattern as a guideline for the hat and my own made up pattern for the rosette. The hat was done with a lavender and a shiny white yarn held together, and the rosette was done with a dark purple with silver strand running through.

Hopefully I'll get to see her wearing it before she grows out of it!

A Beautiful Model

This is, by far, the best way to display a headband!

I love it when people send me pictures. =)

Packer Headbands for Toddlers

My dear sister-in-law asked me to make some Packer headbands for my little niece's birthday coming up. They are far from Wisconsin, so they love to show their Packer pride whenever they can.

Once again, I was so excited to see what she thought of them that I forgot to take pictures first. Good thing she snapped one for me before she shared some with friends and family!

They sure are fun to make for little girls, even if they don't actually last long on the head... ;-)

Baby Girl Blanket

Glancing through old pictures, I came across a baby blanket I made for a friend a few years ago. It was a fun project and sort of a mystery. There wasn't a picture, so I just blindly followed a pattern. Very unusual way for me to pick a project, but I loved the finished product!

Notice that little pile of yarn? Yep, that's the extent of my leftover yarn when I finished. Wow! Cutting it close!

I really loved the edging for it, too.

With a niece on the way soon (YEAH!!!), little girl projects are on the brain. Do you have any favorites?

Still no luck on that stitch yet... I'll keep you posted.

Bead Crochet Necklace with Bone Charm

I've been really excited to complete this most recent Bead Crochet Necklace.

My inspiration came because the recipient looks amazing in black, white, yellow. I wanted to add the charm because we share a love of the show Bones.

This will be her graduation gift tonight. I hope she likes it!

I used Size 8/0 Seed Beads in a rotation of white, yellow, white, black. It's a little more dainty than the Size 6/0 Seed Beads in a 6-color rotation which should work well because she's more daintily structured.

(Thanks again, dearest friend, for sharing your amazing jewelry-making tools with me so I could finish the job well!)

Headband Catch-up

I was gathering my headbands to give to some friends, and I realized that I hadn't taken pictures of all of them.

Here are a few of the stragglers.

These are coordinating Infant and Toddler Headbands. The Infant Headband is slightly thinner, shorter, and has the yellow flower and pink background. The Toddler Headband is about as wide as my "normal" headbands, but is slightly shorter. It has the pink flower and yellow background. Both headbands have a little white flower button in the center. I would just LOVE to see a couple sisters or cousins sporting these two headbands in a photograph!!

This is a cream colored headband in TLC Amore yarn with coordinating rosette. Very soft and elegant for a variety of outfits.

This last one is white with white flowers (hard to see...). The buttons are wavy-textured in red, blue-green, and black.

I have a "trial project" that I really want to get back to now! Hopefully I'll have something to show you on that later this week.

Personalized Christmas Stockings

When we were kids, we had personalized Christmas Stockings for each member of the family. I had been wanting to do the same for our family, but I was never completely pleased with those I was able to find. I looked for crochet patterns for stockings on and off. Let's be honest, they were all UGLY!! Most of them were 2 basic "J" pieces that were stitched together. I just didn't like the look.

Last December, I was looking for some Christmas craft ideas for a friend, and I came across this pattern from Coats and Clark. It was the nicest-looking one I'd seen, so it had potential. I tried one following the pattern to see how it would turn out. The finished product was OK-ish, but I knew there had to be an easier way to do it.

I wrote my own pattern! The first three shown are using my own made-up pattern; the one on the right is the original pattern. I used a needle and accent-color yarn to do a sort of "cross-stitch" of the names on each one.

The reason I'm *just* now posting them is because, though the stockings were finished in time for Christmas, the cuffs and names still needed to be finished. I finished all of them on Saturday (yes, I *did* ignore them for 8 months...) with 4 months to spare!

Is anyone interested in having the pattern? It's a lot to type up, so I'm trying to decide if it's worth it. ;-)

Baby Girl Blanket

Another project is complete!

I started this little afghan a couple years ago, but it had a color change for every row. I quickly realized I couldn't finish it in time for the intended recipient, so I put it away. ...for a LONG time. Well, I finally pulled it out again and finished it!

This project was done with TLC Essentials yarn and Size G hook.

I've always loved Ripple Blankets.

A closer shot of the ripples:

Pretty picot edging.

More projects will be posted, soon.
