What I've been doing today

When I woke up this morning, I decided I was going to make a loaf of bread. I'm willing to admit and embrace the fact that what I am about to say makes me unfit to be called a woman. It was nice knowing you, just the same. I hope you come back to visit me sometime.

I love to use my breadmaker. *gasp!* One of our favorite recipes is Honey Oatmeal bread.

Check! Yum.

On Wednesday, I started soaking some kidney beans to make chili on Thursday. We didn't expect for sickness to sweep through, so I didn't have that extra can of tomato sauce I needed. Oh well. I decided to mostly cook them anyway, then run out to the store for medicine and tomato sauce. Started that up this morning to hang out in the Crock Pot all day.
Check! Also, very delicious.

After lunch, it was time to start putting together my Oreo Truffles for a Bridal Shower tomorrow.
Here's after the final step just before supper:
Hmmm. Not quite as pretty as I hoped. That doesn't scream "love," it screams, "Why is she feeding us bloodshot eyeballs?" Good heavens, everyone else's cutesy things end up looking so much cuter than mine! Oh well, I'll take them anyway. At this point, I'm assuming they'll be yummy, but I have to make sure I have enough before tasting one. Although, what woman in her right mind would take something to feed other people that she's never tasted herself? (Yep, that would be me...)

So that's what I've been up to today amidst valiant efforts to get hubby back to health. =( Blech.

  1. We always want to make something more exciting than what we already make don't we...hence the new recipes! I think that on the right platter or in a pretty box they will be very romantic and tast divine. That bread looks delicious too.

  2. That's totally ME! I can't tell you how many times I've cooked/baked/made something that I've never tried to feed others! I've almost learned my lesson.....almost.

  3. I'm guilty too --- of making new things for company that I haven't tried yet! Sometimes it flops (and I'm the first to say so as to take the "pressure" off the guests to eat it! ha) -- mostly it turns out alright (which must be the reason I keep doing it!).
    BTW - Love bread-maker bread!

  6. Sorry for the sick in your house. I'll definitely try an oreo truffle. I haven't tried the cake I'm bringing, either.

  8. Sure, I'll post the recipe! It's pretty simple, just a little time consuming on the "dipping in chocolate" part. ;-)

Can't wait to see it, Rachel! (and taste it...)

I should post the bread recipe, too, for those of you with breadmakers. It is delicious.

  11. I'm guilty, too, of using a bread machine (although it looks like you baked yours in the oven; I do that, too) and of trying new recipes out on guests. You're not alone.

  12. If I had a breadmaker, I might actually make homemade bread. Everything looks delicious! Esp. the bloodshot eyeballs. ;P

  13. Oh my goodness! I just made these oreo balls today (I'd heard them called cake pops). I dipped them in melted blue wilton candies to go with the Thomas the Train cake I made for a certain someone's Birthday tomorrow. I was going to email you pics and suggest you try them! Ha! I'm too late! You already knew the secret of this oreo goodness!
