Christmas Projects

There has been a LOT of crocheting going on around here. A mini 'girls weekend' provided tons of crochet time.

...except there weren't 400 of us. Source
Where's the proof, you ask? Well, here's the thing. Recently someone told me that so-and-so told them that I have a knitting blog...

Let's get one thing straight here:

I. Don't. Knit.

I happen to like my eyes staying right where God placed them, so this seems like a safe plan for me.  (We'll ignore the Broomstick Lace for now since I still fear for my throat every time I have to lean forward while working on it...)

Once it was clarified that I crochet and couldn't actually help answer her knitting question, I had to wonder how these people knew about this blog and if they'd ever seen it.

Contrary to popular belief, there can be a certain amount of anonymity to the blogosphere. A few close friends and a family member or two know about my blog, but there are very few people in my life that know or care about this 'lil ol' place.' I kind of like it that way. I can interact with tons of talented people and not be embarrassed by my limited abilities because nobody in blog-land cares, right!?!

Which begs the question: what about you? How many of your friends and family know about or read your blog on a regular basis?

Tangent over. Back on track.

What does any of this have to do with proof of my crochet projects?

Well, it has all made me wonder how many other people know about this blog without me realizing it. Therefore, with many Christmas gifts just finished up, I can't actually post them until I'm sure the gifts are received and the surprises won't be spoiled.

So, I'm sorry that it's been so quiet around here. All in good time, I suppose.

I did recently finish a project for myself. It will be posted soon. Speaking of knitting needles...

  1. Nice post!! I don't think any of my family reads my blog, well maybe once in awhile. I think most of my followers were strangers..ha!ha! Now I consider them my friends and I have made quite a few. I would miss them if they didn't stop by and leave comments. I don't make my family except my daughters gifts..I got one back as a regift (by accident?) My feelings were hurt..everyone else laughed..So I just send them cards. Have a great week..

  2. It can be quite funny that people you know well don't know what we do here and others that we don't really know tune in and are active followers. A friend I had lost contact with is an avid follower and our friendship has really resurrected since I've been blogging and friends of my sister that I've known since childhood have also been following the blog. Yet my friends in this community barely know what I'm doing here!

  3. Most of my family has no idea I even have a blog out here in blog land. None of them follow it. I don't have very many followers yet, but I would love some blog buddies. Please feel free to visit my blog anytime and see what I am working on. Some of my Christmas surprises are on there now. Good luck with all if yours and have a great night.

  4. Oh My Gosh I was going to pose the very same question on my blog! Some of my friends know but quite frankly hardly ever read it. But whats funny is that The pastor of the new church we are attending found out about it and read it....I was slightly embarressed, but all he said was that he and his wife enjoyed the blog.
    Blessings, Joanne

  5. I'm not really sure how many family/friends read the blog. Some I've told about it. My Dad told my extended family, so I have at least one aunt who reads it. I don't usually introduce myself and say 'and I have this blog...' My 12 yo nephew reads it, though!
In any case, I don't show gifts 'till after they're given!

  6. Not a single person that I know in the flesh knows about this blog. My husband knows I have one but doesn't know its name and isn't remotely interested - I don't think he knows what a blog is!!

I love your comments and questions! I'll reply as soon as I am able. Thanks for visiting!
