Mystery Stitch Close-up

Aside from taking it apart (please don't let it come to that!), here is a last-ditch effort to see if my brilliant crochet friends can help me out with identifying this stitch.

I stuck my fingers in and sort of spread it out to make each individual stitch a little clearer (hopefully). Also, hubby took the picture for me which means that it's a better quality camera and better resolution. Click the picture to see it even bigger.

Any insights? I really hope it's some ridiculously common stitch that I'm just not familiar with for some reason. =)

  1. Is it possible this is the back? What does the other side look like?

  2. All I can tell is that it's worked in rows and that it's either front/back loop only or maybe a post stitch of some sort... hmm... I really hope someone can come up with something better than that!!!

  3. Hmmm...that's possible, crazychick. Now I'll have to figure out which side we photographed and do the other side, too. Wow. =)

  5. Try this . post this picture and then do a 180 with it so we can see if we can figure out which is the bottom f the stitch . . . then do the same with the other side . . same reason . . maybe we can figure out what's going on.

  7. Hmmmm....looks like knitting to me - If it's ok, I'll "steal" the photo and ask my fellow team mates (Etsy Hookers crochet team) and see if anyone of them know it, but I think it might be knitting!

  8. Well, the majority of my team mates seem to think it's not crochet, but macrame. Macrame does look similar to crochet, but they are knots and this looks like knots....just google some macrame images and see for yourself. Let me know what happens if/when you take it apart!

  10. I was thinking macrame too, but I'm not quite sure. I am curious, can't wait to find out.
