A Closer Look

Does this help at all?

Or closer:

You can click on it to make even larger. It looks like half-double-crochets in the top photo with some sc rows, but when touching it and moving the stitches around, it doesn't seem to be. Is it just the two colors throwing me off?

  1. Could it be a starburst stitch?

No, not quite, it's a bit similar...

I'd recommend asking over at the crochet spot, she knows her stuff!

  2. Personally to me it looks just like a blanket that I did for my sister. It is done using a large hook and holding two strands together all in half double crochet. I dont have a picture of the blanket because it was on my other computer that died.

  3. Hm, I wonder if it is because of the two strands held together that it's so difficult to identify the stitch.

Would you be completely opposed to taking a bit of apart to try to work backwards and see how it was made?

  6. I've been racking my brain and looking around the internets and I have to agree with Wendy, is does look similar to the star stitch! Like this here: http://www.woollywormhead.com/storage/BlogStarStitchKnit.jpg?__SQUARESPACE_CACHEVERSION=1232714989304 easier to see in a solid colour the right tilt/left tilt of each stitch.
